Muscle and joint pain

douleurs

Muscle and joint pain often appear after intense or unusual physical exertion. But our modern lifestyle (stress, static work, poor posture, lack of physical exercise, etc.) and other causes (repeated movements, ageing, etc.) may also be responsible for pain in the most affected areas: back, neck.

This pain manifests itself by tingling, tenseness, redness, stiffness and swelling.

Aches, cramps, spasms, lower back pain and a stiff neck are muscle pain while rheumatism, sprains and tendinitis are known as joint pain.

We recommend different solutions for soothing and relieving this pain.

Simple and effective solutions

  • Stretching

After physical exertion, as with stiffness, stretching is widely recognised for reducing and relieving muscle pain. By increasing the oxygen supply to your muscles, stretching improves blood circulation; it also relieves tension and relaxes the muscles. Thanks to stretching, you can increase the flexibility of your muscles and tendons and prevent muscle injury.

In addition to stretching, it is recommended to perform strengthening exercises to minimise muscle tension and injuries.

  • Heat

Heat promotes blood circulation which helps remove toxins that are responsible for the feeling of pain. For muscle or joint pain, heat can thus reduce pain and ensure a better recovery. So you can take a hot bath or apply something hot on affected areas.

  • Massage

Relaxing and therapeutic in helping to relieve certain types of pain, massage unquestionably brings well-being and relaxation.

In addition to its ability to reduce stress, massage is indicated in many pathologies: rheumatic pain (stiff neck, lower back pain, tendonitis, osteoarthritis, etc.), tenseness and stiffness but also in functional rehabilitation after a sprain or tendinitis, etc.

Massage works at different levels: at a mechanical level it relaxes the different tissues of the skin; at a circulatory level it improves blood circulation; at a neurological level it acts on the pain sensors in the skin, which reduces the feeling of pain, and at a hormonal level it stimulates the skin surface triggering an immediate feeling of well-being and relaxation.

It is therefore important to take care of your skin and apply nourishing and moisturising creams regularly to compensate for this dryness.
